About a month ago I received a phone call from a local lady who needed some help. She asked me if I would be willing to help her finish a quilt that she had started but is no longer able to finish due to health reasons. I wasn’t sure I really wanted to take on the job so I told her I would call her back. After about 5 minutes I knew I had to help her. You see, she lives in a local assisted living facility and is not able to drive.
I called her back and told her I would be more than happy to stop by and see if I could help. She had 104 quilt blocks that she had put together long ago. I took them home with me and drafted several design options in EQ 7 so she could pick what she liked best. We settled on a design and I got to work. The quilt is huge! It measures 90″ x 110″ and was aptly nicknamed “The BFQ.” BFQ…big fluffy quilt…big fancy quilt… big flipping quilt… Surely you didn’t think I meant something else for the F. {wink wink}
I couldn’t really get very good pictures. We had crazy monsoon winds today like every other day here in Texas. These pictures are just half of The BFQ. See, it is huge!!
The design is simple, just what she wanted. She also wanted the quilting to be simple so I went with an allover stipple. I think it turned out pretty awesome and she loves it!
I used Quilter’s Dream Poly Deluxe batting and So Fine #50 thread. Two of my favorite things!
