Today I actually finished my pinwheel quilt, including the binding! Most of you know that’s a miracle for me. Especially since I have a stack of at least 4 quilts that need binding. I decided to bind this one as soon as I finished the quilting. I think this needs to be my new plan so I don’t get overloaded with unbound quilts.
I have a couple pictures to share but they were taken this afternoon before binding. I’m going to take more pics tomorrow of the completely finished quilt.
I ended up using white thread to quilt it. I just wasn’t brave enough to use pink. What can I say? I’m a big chicken. I do love white thread on white fabric!
A couple close ups…
I used 1 layer cake {Happy by Me and My Sister for Moda} and white Bella Solids for the background. I used some of my new Riley Blake Mystique Black & White fabric for the backing. The binding is super cool if I do say so myself. I really love how it looks.
More pictures to come.
It looks awesome. Love the quilting.
It is so amazing! Congratulations!
The quilt and the quilting is beautiful@
What a beautiful job you did on the quilting. I love the fabric you chose for the backing. Thanks so much for sharing – Merry Christmas!
So pretty! I love the look of white thread for quilting too… so clean and crisp.
Oh, I SO love this quilt!!!!
I like the quilt and I adore the backing. I just finished my first quilt that used a good bit of white as yours does. I felt like there were a lot of threads (that I thought I had trimmed) showing through the white after I washed it. I guess this is normal or is there a white that’s thicker than others? Probably the perfectionist in me needs to be tamed….! Thanks for your blogging activities. I enjoy your emails.
From what I can see of your quilting there is no reason you shoul fear using a color. It looks wonderful.
You did a wonderful job on this. I agree the white thread helps the pinwheels stand out. And the fabric you chose for the back is striking.
I really love this but I think you know that. Now all I have to do is get a white layer cake and wait for your pattern and I’ll be ready to go. No hurry though.

It looks lovely! I think white was definitely the right way to go, makes the pinwheels stand out really nicely 🙂
I think white is perfect…a color would have taken away from the fanciful pinwheels and made it to busy. GOod job!
I think the quilting is nice to look at. I would want to set it in my lap and just look it all over. You did an amazing job and it is certainly my favorite. I have a bundle of fabric that would look great for this quilt. Maybe after the new year when you can relax and find some time the pattern will come. Good things happen to those who wait. Have a blessed Christmas Vicki.
White was perfect. Pink wouldn’t have been as good I don’t think and your quilting is SUPERB!!!
You did an awesome job on the modern quilting!!! White on white is absolutely a perfect choice for this. Your backing is WOW!!! Love it – A+ all the way!!! You were brave to do all the modern quilting, but it was exactly the right choice for this quilt!
Love it! It’s beautiful! And the white-on-white is glorious. 🙂
Love this quilt !!! So cheery !!!
