Good morning! I hope you are all having a wonderful Monday morning.  Let me just tell you this weekend did not go as planned.  My poor kids are 0 and 2 for successful birthdays this year.  First, Hannah had to go to the dentist and then Saturday, Jake was sick all day!  I’m talking hugging the toilet sick.  I felt so bad for him.

So, birthday activities were postponed and hopefully we can have some cake and ice cream tonight or tomorrow night.

Here’s my birthday boy.  He’s rocking his new hoodie that we got him for his birthday.

I haven’t gotten much sewing done lately.  I’m supposed to be working on a pattern I designed but life keeps getting in the way.  I’ve vowed to not start anything new until I finish this pattern.  That’s a great goal for me but it also stinks because that means I have nothing new to share.  Boo.

I thought it would be fun to show you all how messy I am.  I have a horrible habit of throwing thread on the floor.  A. Horrible. Habit.

The black thread looks awesome as a floor decoration!  Don’t you think?  I learned the hard way that my vacuum cleaner does not like sucking up my threads.  So when it’s time to clean I have to get on my hands and knees and scrape it all up.  Pretty sad that I’d rather crawl around on the floor than use a trash can.  I just can’t be bothered when I’m in the quilting zone.

Take a look at how much thread was spread out all over the floor.

Yikes…it’s almost as tall as a cone of thread!  Mom was cracking up when I sent her the picture of my tower of thread.  I can’t help it.  I’m just a messy quilter.

Alright, I’m determined to finish my pattern writing today so I can start sewing again.

Happy Monday!

  1. Your boy has cute smiley cheeks! And that thread on the floor…I would just swipe it up with a big lint roller. I keep a small lint roller on my ironing board to pick up the stray threads and lint that end up on the ironing board cover.

  2. So sorry about Jake. I totally understand about the tread beast. I wrap some maksing tape around my fingers and go to it. My cat loves to be around me when I sew. I have seriously thought of putting tape on his paws and have him help. LOL not so sure it would work.

  3. I am just as messy! And add a long haired giant dog to that! I do have to say my shark is awesome at getting up this stuff! My MIL got it. For me for Christmas two years ago (I asked for it) and I have told her several times how much I love it!

  4. I do the same thing….but listen girl! Get off those knees. Just use the hose of your vacuum cleaner first. Then it won’t choke and gag (oh I crack myself up!) when you vacuum the right way! Does that make sense?

Of course a lint roller is a good idea too!

  5. I live in a tiny studio apartment with my boyfriend, so I usually put my thread ends on the arm of the couch next to me, which get stuck to the sleeve of my sweater, which fall on the floor…which my cats start playing with…etc, etc…lol. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only messy quilter out there!
