New Blocks for Stash Bee

Well it’s that time again, new blocks for Stash Bee.  Mary and I got together again on Saturday to do our blocks. I had been working on mine, well I should say I was drawing houses that I wasn’t exactly happy with all week.  I like to have a head start on Mary because she can start after me and always finish first.  Once she gets her idea she just goes with it.  Me on the other hand, well lets just say I might be an over thinker at times.  As a matter of fact we had a big laugh about that on Saturday.  Long story short she came in I annouced I had nothing and she saved me with a great idea.  She told me about a website Shabby Fabrics that has a block of the month Country Cottages with free downloads for the blocks.  You guessed it, I checked it out and loved the blocks.  I used the April block, of course 0:).  I did change it up a little, the block was hand applique, I did a blanket stitch around mine on my machine.  I added some lace and some buttons, made the flowers a little smaller and this is what I came up with.  If you would like to look at the blocks you can check it out here, scroll down to the bottom of the page for the blocks.
This was fun to do, so much so we have decided we may do the quilt.
Mary’s block was designed by using some of her applique designs for her embroidery machine.  They also have blanket stitch around them, she added the clouds, sun and a very cute tree to finish off the block. The picture doesn’t do it justice.  I don’t have the hang of my new camera yet, but I’m working on it.
We had a lot of fun doing the blocks, and look forward to what next month will bring!!  Enjoy
