Sneak Peek ~ What a Week!

Thank goodness this week is coming to a close.  What a busy week!  I finally put on my stretchy pants and dove into some Ben and Jerry’s Americone Dream.  Best Ice Cream ever.  Anyway…  Last Saturday we celebrated our daughter’s 15th birthday which was surreal.  It seems like only yesterday I was changing her diapers.  Now I have to find peace with the idea of her behind the wheel.  Driving.  A car.  Eventually by herself.  Yikes!  And then we had Halloween.  Lots of dressing up and trick or treating.  And finally our youngest celebrated his 8th birthday on Thursday.  It really feels like just yesterday that I was changing his diapers.  He’s becoming quite the young man.  He’s more and more like his daddy everyday.  We truly are blessed.

I didn’t have much time to get any sewing done.  After all, there were birthday presents to buy, costumes to make {the Hallo”wiener” ~ best costume ever} and more birthday presents to buy.  And I almost forgot, midweek I was lucky enough to get an ear infection.  Off to the doctor I went.  But, I did manage to get a few things done….most of them today.

I’ve had an idea for a quilt cooking in my brain for awhile now.  Let’s just say it’s been marinating.  I wasn’t exactly sure how I was going to get it from my brain to fabric.  I think I might have it figured out.  I managed to get a very good start on it this afternoon.

My newest obsession is pairing bright colors with a neutral such as white or ivory.  I know this isn’t a new concept but I just recently decided I love it!  I chose Moda Bella Solids in Porcelain for this project and paired it with 8 batiks in blues, purples and greens, my absolute favorite colors.  I think it’s going to be gorgeous and easy to put together.  That’s always a bonus.

Here’s a sneak peek

I also finished the quilting on my Rectangle Tango quilt.  {This is one of my designs}  Remember this one…

This is my favorite quilt so far!

I love the bright colors!

In case you’re wondering I used a Mango Margarita Bali Pop by Hoffman Fabrics along with one of their 1895 watercolor batiks ~ Gardenia ~ for the white squares.  I cannot wait to get this one completely finished.

I have the binding ready to sew on.

Big pile of binding!

Now I just need to find the time to attach it.  I think I just might sew this one down by hand.  It will be my second time ever to hand sew the binding but it actually wasn’t that bad.  It wasn’t near as bad as I thought it would be.  The worst part was trying to use a thimble.  I needed one but it felt weird and awkward.  Maybe it just takes time.

I can’t wait to post pictures once I get the binding on my quilt!  Finishing a quilt is the best feeling in the world.

We love to hear from our followers!  Drop us line and let us know what you are working on.  If you’re like us the work in progress list is looooong!

Have a great weekend!
